About Coding

#IAMTHECODE

Our mission is to build a generation of 1 million women and girls coders by 2030. Through technology and digital literacy training, we are tackling the current global STEAMD skills shortage in marginalised communities.

Lady Mariéme Jamme

How our coding journey began……

We had an amazing visit organised by our Chair of Governors Councillor Barbara Murray from Lady Mariéme Jamme, a pioneer in System Change and Technology. She’s best renowned for her motivational & inspirational speeches about girl’s education through STEAMD (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics and design) and empowerment of youth living in marginalised communities. She came and spoke to our Year 5 and 6 girls about her mission to build a generation of 1 million women and girl coders by 2030. The talk was very inspirational and we were left super excited with this new partnership.

How our coding journey is going……

We were delighted to welcome Lady Jamme back to school in Spring 2022 to launch iamtheCODE Liverpool. She donated three coding computers to further support our girls in learning to code.

Our Mission

Our mission is putting the Sustainable Development Goals at the heart of education. We do this by focusing on one of the sustainable goals during our weekly podcast discussions. Our podcasts our run by our Year 5 & 6 girls working closely alongside Miss Davis, our Computing Lead. We have been very fortunate to interview some inspirational women including Lady Jamme, a pioneer in System Change and Technology and the Mayor of Liverpool, Joanne Anderson. Please check out the podcasts below.

‘We must listen to young girls, they have so much to say.’ Lady Jamme
